As part of their global ‘Saviors’ stadium tour, Green Day had their stop at GelreDome in Arnhem, Netherlands on June 19 with The Hives & The Interrupters. It turns out some fans left early before the show ended.
Green Day fans leaving early
One fan revealed that the show started early and when they reached, Bohemian Rhapsody was already playing even though there were still huge crowds outside the stadium. He saw several people were just hanging out outside and by the time the band was going into Longview, only then the seats around him were getting filled.
He claimed that he overheard another fan saying: “Oh we’re late, I heard them play but I thought this was another opening band.”
The fan on Reddit lashed outs saying: “Dude, are you stupid? Look ma I’ve got no brains indeed. You’re going to a Green Day show and Longview is the first song you recognize enough for you to go inside?”
He further revealed that the fans around him hardly knew the Dookie songs. They only got excited when ‘Basket Case’ started. Furthermore, most of the people around him seemed bored, constantly looking at their phones and only paying attention when big hits were played. He then noted that by the time Green Day finished ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, fans started to leave and seats remained empty.
After the band played, ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends,’ even more left and the same happened for ‘Whatsername’. By the time the band got up to play ‘Good Riddance’, most of the seats around them were already empty. He urged such fans not to purchase tickets and save those seats for the ones who really wanted to go. He concluded Green Day played great and it was a good show.
The tour features the pop-punk trio – comprising Tré Cool, Mike Dirnt and Billie Joe Armstrong, who recently went on to Taylor Swift concert. The trio will be playing stadiums across the US, UK, and Europe in support of their newest album ‘Saviors‘ (released on January 19) while also celebrating 30 years of their classic 1994 album ‘Dookie’ and 20 years of 2004’s ‘American Idiot’.
The UK and European dates kicked off at the LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu, France on June 5, 2024. Throughout June the band hit cities like Madrid, Berlin, Milan, Paris and more. Then the UK and Ireland leg will kick off on June 21 at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford, with further dates in Glasgow, Dublin and a massive Wembley Stadium date in London on June 29. Nothing But Thieves, The Hives, Donots, The Interrupters and Maid Of Ace have also joined as support across select dates.
The North American leg is also set to start at Nationals Park in Washington, DC on July 29, 2024, before visiting cities like New York, Philadelphia, Nashville, Austin, Los Angeles, and many more, closing out Petco Park in San Diego, California on September 28.
