Guitarist ‘Started To Believe Rumors’ He Would Join Guns N’ Roses Reunion

Former Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner discussed rumors in late 2015 and early 2016 that he would be a part of Guns N’ Roses’ reunion lineup before the full lineup that would join Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan was unveiled.

“I got all excited, because I started to believe it myself. ‘Oh this is awesome, I might be in Guns N’ Roses!’ (Laughs) It didn’t happen, but you know, it’s funny, because sometimes I get sucked into that stuff too. Especially on Twitter, because it’s just easy, you’re just sitting and looking at your phone every 10 minutes.

For some reason or another, I started to kind of believe it myself, it’s so funny. I knew no one had fuckin’ called me, Duff didn’t even mention it, it’s not like anybody said anything to me. I kind of knew that Richard and Frank were probably going to get the gigs. But even knowing that, I was still kind of rooting for myself, in some contest that I wasn’t even really in.”

A host then mentioned that having Guns N’ Roses on your resume is a great thing to have, even if it’s a Guns N’ Roses that people don’t necessarily see as the original lineup.

“Dude, no one would mind. I personally don’t have that much musical integrity, you know what I mean? I have some, but not that much.”
