Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy was released in 2008 to mixed reviews and was supposed to be a Chinese Democracy trilogy, with Chinese Democracy 2 & 3 being released in 2010 and 2012 as well.
With that said, Guns N’ Roses fans have been discussing the best leftoversongs from Chinese Democracy. A major name when it comes to unreleased tracks from the album was undoubtably ”Soul Monster.”
Axl Rose once said he recorded “Soul Monster” on Christmas Eve. Years later, someone checked all the studios booked during the Chinese Democracy era ,and found the only Christmas Eve booking was in 2004. So, it’s likely that recording happened around then, but it was definitely in the mid-2000’s. It’s a unanimous hit with fans of the band for all the right reasons, considering it was one of the most demanded songs from Guns N’ Roses at the time.
“State of Grace” by Guns N’ Roses is a song about betrayal and disillusionment, and another major song that never saw the light of day until much later. It was one of the tracks from the “Rough Mixes” CDs, which were recordings from the Chinese Democracy sessions. These rough mixes were made privately from November 2000 to November 2001. A 13-second clip of the song leaked on September 9, 2019, and the full version from Rough Mixes 3 leaked a few days later, on September 13th.
The lyrics show the singer’s disappointment in a relationship where someone’s choices have led to a loss of respect and emotional pain. The song also reflects on the struggle to accept and deal with the fallout from these actions.
