Kid Rock recently weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding Ticketmaster and he didn’t hold back. In a profanity-laced video posted to X, the musician praised President Donald Trump for initiating an investigation that led to the recent Department of Justice lawsuit against Ticketmaster, while blasting the company for “ripping off fans and artists for decades.”
Kid Rock calls out Pearl Jam
However, in the middle of his tirade, Kid Rock turned his attention toward other musicians, specifically calling out Pearl Jam by name.
“Let’s see if Pearl Jam steps up,” he said [as transcribed by AlternativeNation.net]. “They wanted to fix ticketing years ago. They probably won’t because they’ll be like, ‘Oh, we hate Donald Trump. We have Trump derangement syndrome.’”
Pearl Jam famously challenged Ticketmaster in the mid-1990s, accusing the ticketing giant of monopolistic practices and inflated service fees. Their battle led to a U.S. congressional investigation but ultimately ended without significant industry reform. Pearl Jam alleged the company had a monopoly over ticket distribution because of its relationship with various venues.
Kid Rock suggested that despite their past stance, the band might now be unwilling to support Trump-led efforts against the company.
He continued by challenging other “outlaw country singers” and major artists to speak up, saying many “will puss out” rather than confront the industry overpricing problem.
“All these other presidents could have done something — Bush, Obama, Clinton — they didn’t do sh*t. Nobody has. Trump is. Trump is. We are,” he added.
Kid Rock’s comments come amid the U.S. government’s latest antitrust case against Live Nation Entertainment, the parent company of Ticketmaster, alleging monopolistic practices in live event ticketing.
