In a recent interview, KISS lead singer Paul Stanley said he’s open to the idea of doing a special one-time KISS show, like on the Kiss Kruise (a luxury cruise) or just getting together with his bandmates to perform a few songs. He said, “Anything’s possible.” Although their farewell tour, “End of the Road,” is over, Paul believes KISS could continue in a different way. He said, “KISS as we know it is done, but we’re still involved in what KISS will become.” One of their members broke their silence on a lip synch rumor as well.
In January 2023, Paul had also said that the farewell tour marked the end of regular touring, but he wasn’t sure if the band might do one-off shows or something like a Las Vegas residency. He explained that touring was tough on their bodies, and if it weren’t so physically demanding, they could keep going for many more years. He said their shows were like sports, requiring heavy gear and a lot of movement, which made it hard to continue long-term.
The current members of KISS include Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, along with Tommy Thayer (guitarist since 2002) and Eric Singer (drummer off and on since 1991). KISS started in 1973 and did their first farewell tour in 2000 with the original lineup.
Paul also shared how it felt after finishing the farewell tour. He said that while stopping touring made sense, it still felt strange emotionally. Even though he’s not performing on stage anymore, he’s still involved in KISS’s future, including their new KISS avatar show, which uses technology similar to ABBA’s “Voyage” show in London.
Finally, Paul talked about aging and how it affects his singing. He admitted he’s not the same singer he was years ago. He said everyone, including athletes and performers, has to accept that their abilities change over time. He also mentioned that it’s up to each person to decide when it’s time to stop.
