Pearl Jam and Nirvana go together like, well, Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Even though the two bands had their own feelings about the brand of music that they played, the still did, deep down, hold some respect for one another. That’s apparent even more than ever  now as we are twenty-seven years removed from the loss of Kurt Cobain.

In a recent interview, Matt Cameron of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden spoke on what it was like to be pushed around a bit by Kurt Cobain. Matt speaks on he fact that Cobain had broken guitar string and demanded that Cameron fix the issue, which led Matt to having no idea what he was even doing in the first place.

As transcribed by Music Radar, Matt Cameron stated about the incident:”We heard about this OK Hotel show with Nirvana – with Dave. I think it was his second or third show here in Seattle with Nirvana, maybe it was his first show, I don’t know. So anyway, we went to the alleyway behind the OK, knocked on the door and Krist [Novoselic] was there so he let us in.”

Cameron continued: “There was one point where Kurt – I didn’t know him that well, but we were definitely familiar and acquaintances and stuff – but he broke his guitar string [while playing] and he handed me the guitar and was like, ‘Change my guitar string!'”
