The auction house Gotta Have Rock and Roll has announced that a special set of electric guitars is going up for sale, including instruments played by Ace Frehley, George Harrison, and Jimi Hendrix, as per the reports of Guitar World.
Jimi Hendrix guitar has a staggering value
A red Hamer prototype used by the Beatle during his solo sessions in 1987 is up for auction, signed by Harrison on the back, and valued between $100,000-$150,000.
Next up is an Olympic white 1969 Fender Stratocaster reportedly owned and used by Jimi Hendrix. The guitar features an alder body and maple neck and fretboard, sporting 3 original single-coil pickups. As per the reports, it is valued at $150,000-$200,000, and comes with a letter of authenticity.
Ace Frehley’s UFO “Rocket Shooter” guitar, which was used by the former Kiss musician onstage, is also going on sale. The instrument still carries the original rear headstock that held the rocket firework mechanism. The Rocket Shooter is valued at $150,000-$200,000.
Finally, up for auction is also the neck of a guitar smashed by Kurt Cobain at a Nirvana show in 1990 at the Kennel Club in San Francisco, California. The destroyed gear was grabbed by a fan after the show, and it sports Cobain’s initials autographed in the neck. The unfortunate remains of the guitar are valued at $75,000-$100,000.
It has been also noted that the bidding process for all the guitars is set to close on August 19.
