Tool and Maynard James Keenan are being stalked on their North American tour, but it’s in a much funnier way than you might think! Comedian Rory Scovel is on tour with Nick Youssef and Freddy Scott, and the tour is following Tool’s! Scovel discussed the tour in a new interview with Conan O’Brien, and Alternative Nation transcribed some remarks.

Conan asked, “Explain, you are setting your whole comedy schedule so you can follow your favorite band Tool on their tour.”

Rory responded, “We’re trying to leech off of them, and then try to see their shows. Literally, any city that they’re in, we’ll get there the night before or the night after, obviously not night of, we don’t want to take away from their show. Then we go see them, we do standup, and we go off to the next city. We act like we’re in the band, but we’re not, we’re just three guys giving speeches each night.”

Maynard James Keenan was ‘thrown out’ of the studio last week. Conan followed up, “Does Tool know that you’re doing this, has Tool been made aware? Have you told Tool.”

Rory quipped back, “Yeah, we told them. Tool@Gmail.com, we hit them up, ‘Hey guys, just a heads up, if you want to check us out.’ They might know about it, I’ve made every effort to make them aware, just in case they want to come see the show.”

Conan then suggested, “You’re using their logo and everything, you’ll hear from their lawyers if nothing else.”

Rory seemed happy with the idea, “And then we might get to meet them. We go to trial, a trial will be so fun.” Conan shot back, “That would be so great if they took you to court.”

Rory concluded that fans could tour information on a fictional joke website, “NotToolBand.com, you are going to want to hit that up as soon as possible.” Billy Corgan recently reacted to a painful Maynard James Keenan and James Iha video.
