Iconic Nirvana producer Steve Albini revealed he wasn’t a fan of Led Zeppelin‘s music growing up before he worked with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant on Walking into Clarksdale in 1998. Albini made the remarks in a new documentary, as transcribed by Alternative Nation. Former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl reacted to a Prince death secret a few days ago.

Interviewer: Were you into Led Zeppelin growing up?

Albini: Not really no. You have to acknowledge how important they were even if you don’t like that music, they were a cornerstone band. Those records are impeccable. Like, the records are really, really remarkable sounding records for the era and all time. They are great sounding records and made under the most insane conditions. Like basic track on a mobile truck and a fucking barn.

The overdub would be done in New York after a gig and the mix done you know, high as f**king bird p**sy in Los Angeles. Every song on the record is like that, complete patchwork, they all sound amazing and incredible. Just the complete consistent, really remarkable quality is just unmatched. Nobody has ever had a run of four to five records that good, ever. So there is that and also they’re part of the vocabulary. Bands that I like wouldn’t have existed without that. So the fact that I wasn’t into them at the time doesn’t really mean anything regarding my appreciation for them.

The Rolling Stones member rejecting a stunning Led Zeppelin offer was revealed yesterday. Albini continued:

Albini: Overtime of course I came to grow an appreciation for Led Zeppelin just because those records are awesome.  However, when I was a teenager and Led Zeppelin were a current band I was not into that music. Mainly because I was not into the people who were into that music.

Robert Plant recently revealed if The Rolling Stones are ‘finished.’
