KISS frontman Paul Stanley has confirmed that Rush drummer Neil Peart fought brain cancer for ‘years’ and it was not a brief fight, and that Peart also was devastated by tragedies in his family near the end of his life. Rush recently revealed a surprise Neil Peart 2019 appearance.

Stanley tweeted after Peart’s death, “Absolutely Horrible News. Neal Peart has died after fighting brain cancer for years. His later life was filled with so much family tragedy. So, so sad. I’m just shocked.” Stanley didn’t elaborate on the family tragedies that plagued Peart.

KevinD2112 said on TheRushForum.com, “Posting because I don’t know what else to do. He was an absolute hero of mine, and one of the reasons I picked up the sticks so long ago. Our heros are all going to pass eventually, but I was not ready for this. I’m not even sure what I feel. Stunned……”

Big Montana Sky wrote, “This hit me really hard. I actually expected it to be a motorcycling mishap that would take him, not anything like brain cancer. I can barely imagine what his family is going through. All I can say is, emulate his example. Live life to the fullest.”

Fraroc chimed in, “This is probably the most devastated I’ve been over a celebrity dying since Michael Jackson….RIP Neil…I only hope that you’re now reunited with your wife and daughter…”

Entre_Perpetuo commented, “You’ve got to be kidding. He wasn’t just the greatest drummer of all time, he wasn’t just one of the greatest lyricists of all time, he was also one of the only rock stars to put his family before his career in the end. How old can his daughter be now? He should’ve had more time with her, and her with him.” Geddy Lee just reunited with Neil Peart a few months ago in Los Angeles.
