Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky has been raising awareness for the opioid epidemic in the year since her husband’s death due to his relapse shortly before dying by suicide. Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell weighed in on the issue in new tweets. He linked to a New York Times article titled: ‘Seeds of an epidemic: The maker of OxyContin knew early on that it was being abused as a narcotic, but kept promoting it as less addictive.’

He tweeted, “How is your sense of Smell? Important (practically life or death) that we develop our ability to sniff out a situation.

My senses go right to- the person who successfully Defended this company; ushering in an uncontainable, Epidemic. Misery. Have a whiff, tell me what you think. ”

He then tweeted, “NY Times: ‘the decision not to pursue indictments followed meetings with a Purdue Pharma defense team whose advisers included Rudolph W. Giuliani, a onetime United States attorney. Mr. Giuliani, now legal adviser to Mr. Trump.’ (And initiator of the phony ‘Spy’ assertions)..? ?”

Perry Farrell himself struggled with drug addiction, but he has been clean for many years. Chris Cornell dealt with OxyContin addiction, and relapsed by abusing Ativan before his death.
