Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis was recently interviewed by former Hole drummer Scott Lipps on Dash Radio. Alternative Nation transcribed their comments about Radiohead and similar bands refusing to play their hits.

Lipps said, “You guys have always been about having fun on stage, such a great live show. You’re one of the bands that always plays all of your greatest songs ever, which I have to give a lot of respect to that because I’ll see whatever, I’ll see Radioheand and I won’t know any of their songs, and I’m a Radiohead fan! Like, can you just play ‘The Bends’ or ‘OK Computer’ or something?”

Kiedis responded, “I love both, I love bands that refuse to play their hits and then you know, sometimes you just gotta give the people what they want.”

Kiedis also discussed his Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmate Chad Smith, who he called gifted since childhood.

“That’s him and then there’s people that practice eight hours a day and they become prodigies from the practice. So Chad’s a little bit of all that, yeah, but he’s gifted. I mean, other people look at him and they scratch their heads ‘what is going on with that.'”
