Candlebox frontman Kevin Martin revealed that late Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland attended a Pearl Jam show at the Viper Room in Los Angeles in 1993 after the MTV VMA’s. It has never been reported that Weiland was at a Pearl Jam show, especially with STP and Pearl Jam’s media rivalry at the time. A Scott Weiland movie release date was announced a few days ago. Alternative Nation reporter Mike Mazzarone transcribed Martin’s comments on 5 Questions With Tommy Black. Black was Scott Weiland’s bass player.

Martin described the show, “Amazing. We had played across the street and Maverick [Records] had a party for us at the Whiskey and then our agent brought us over and it was at the same time representing Pearl Jam and said: ‘Let’s go to the Viper Room, they’re playing.’ –  and it was unannounced. The room was relatively full when we showed up and of course word got out and it was beyond packed.

At that point, Pearl Jam was the biggest band in the world and I think Versus just debuted and had the biggest debut of a record at seven hundred, some odd thousand units sold in one week. You know, the band was on fire and Viper has always been that place for amazing, unknown shows – that’s what I love about it.”

He said about Scott Weiland and late Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood, “It’s like your [Tommy Black’s] relationship with Scott [Weiland], You had something really amazing with that human being and affected you on so many levels and God rest his soul.

I miss Scott, not nearly as much as you do but I do miss that person but when a musician like that comes along at least Scott had the opportunity to be the rock star. Andy never was given that opportunity because the heroin controlled him so much.” A bizarre Scott Weiland and Prince story was recently revealed.
