Smashing Pumpkins touring bassist Jack Bates reacted to news of John Frusciante returning to Red Hot Chili Peppers by posting his sad solo song “Going Inside.” Billy Corgan was savagely disrespected on a plane with his girlfriend recently.

AraCell said on Reddit recently, “I’m suspicious of the people here who imply that Josh is better than John. I can’t shake the feeling that they’re just being hipster contrarians who purposely go against the grain for attention.”

DamnHellAssKings responded, “What do you think of people who don’t like the band at all? Honestly, it’s bizarre that so many ppl on this sub are suddenly acting their subjective opinions about music are fact. I can’t shake the feeling that a lot of fans are wrapped up in the mythos around John and as a result jump to the conclusion that every song he touched was gold and anything else is “less than”.

He’s a just a man gang, I’m really happy so many of you are so happy about John’s return (I’m excited too), but I’m not quantifiably wrong or being a “hipster contrarian” when I say I enjoy Dreams of a Samurai, This is the Kitt, Open/Close, and Long Progression more than most of the songs on Stadium Arcadium. I look for and enjoy different things about music than you apparently, no ones wrong.”

He later added, “My point is, as much as we love this band, and as much as some fans may believe that mainstream audiences universally see John as RHCP’s savior and true creative force, I don’t believe that’s necessarily the case at large. Basically, opinions are opinions. There’s nothing to be gained from being contrarian, so try and just accept that some ppl, even other fans of a band you like, may have very different musical tastes than you.” John Frusciante recently revealed if he hates Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Josh Klinghoffer.

Going Inside lyrics:
You don’t throw your life away
Going inside
You get to know who’s watching you
And who besides you resides
In your body
Where you’re slow
Where you go doesn’t matter
Cuz there will come a time
When time goes out the window
And you’ll learn to drive out of focus
I’m you and if anything unfolds
it’s supposed to
You don’t throw your time away sitting still
I’m in a chain of memories
It’s my will
And I had to consult some figures of my past
And I know someone after me
Will go right back
I’m not telling a view
I’ve got this night to unglue
I moved this fight away
By doing things there’s no reason to do
