Eagles Leave Jazz Fest Set After Medical Scare
The Eagles’ first non-Sphere concert since 2024 reportedly ended earlier than planned at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, after the band left the stage with about 20 minutes remaining in its allotted time. The May 2 appearance marked a notable change of setting for the group, which has recently been performing extended runs at Las Vegas’ high-tech Sphere venue.
Ultimate Classic Rock reported that a member of the band’s piano team suffered a medical episode during the latter half of the show, leading the Eagles to cut the performance short and omit the piano-heavy “Desperado.” The report added that the band’s New Orleans set also unusually left “Desperado” out entirely.
Frontman Don Henley acknowledged the contrast between venues early in the gig, telling the crowd the festival environment was “very different from the Sphere,” while noting the outdoor sunshine. The Eagles opened with “Seven Bridges Road,” differing from the Sphere run where “Hotel California” has typically served as the opener, and they also mixed in solo material such as Joe Walsh’s “Life’s Been Good” and Henley’s “The Boys of Summer.”
This isn’t the first time the group’s lineup and touring plans have been shaped by health concerns, with past Alternative Nation coverage noting how an Eagles member quit due to disease during earlier chapters of the band’s history.
The Eagles are next scheduled to perform May 5 in Atlanta, with fans likely watching closely for any updates after the reported incident in New Orleans.
