Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has revealed in a new interview that he does not request a paycheck from Josh Homme to play on Queens of the Stone Age albums, meaning that he gets paid nothing. Foo Fighters abandoned a horrible performance of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Scar Tissue” a few days ago.

Grohl told Guardian that he is the guy Homme calls when he is in trouble and needs a drummer. “That’s because I don’t charge him money to play drums,” jokes Grohl. Grohl and Homme met in Nirvana’s heyday. Homme was in desert psych band Kyuss. QOTSA and Foos have toured the world together. In the late 90s, a magazine asked Grohl what his biggest regret of the year was. “I said: ‘That Queens of the Stone Age didn’t ask me to be their drummer.’”

Drummer Gene Trautmann quit Queens of the Stone Age as they were ready to record Songs for the Deaf. Homme asked Grohl to finish the record. “I said: ‘Absofuckinglutely’. It’s not the last time he called me to rescue him.”

Grohl later got a text when 2013’s …Like Clockwork was being recorded, Queens of the Stone Age’s comeback album after 6 years.

“I was reading stories to my daughter. So what’s up?” Again, their drummer had quit. “I’m like: ‘All right, when do you want me?’”

Dave Grohl recently revealed in “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was a ripoff. HappyGilmoreUK posted a touching story about a 5-year old kid named Taylor being invited to dance onstage at a recent Foo Fighters show in Belfast.

He wrote on the Foo Fighters Reddit, “In tonight’s Belfast gig, Dave spotted a sign saying something along the lines of ‘I’m 5 years old and at my first gig.’ He invited the kid and his family up to watch from the stage, and then later the kid came over and rocked out centre stage with Dave for a whole song. Sorry I’m too drunk to remember what song it was. It was hilarious though.” Dave Grohl was filmed after a guitar was thrown near him onstage last week at a show.
