AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson discussed his dismissal from the band by Angus Young in a recent episode of his AXS TV series A Life on the Road. He said that he was miserable for a week, and then he received a call from The Eagles icon Joe Walsh, who he was interviewing on his show as he told the story. Angus Young was devastated by a family death yesterday. Alternative Nation transcribed Johnson’s remarks.

“About two years ago, I had to stop playing because of my ears and all of that, and the first call I got was from you. You said, ‘Hey, I know exactly what you’re going through, the same thing happened to me. I was an Eagle, and then I wasn’t, nothing, just nothing. Then you just said, ‘Well, why don’t you come on over, play some tunes. I’m in my studio, I got my door locked, and nobody’s getting in.’”

Howard Stern recently revealed why Brian Johnson really left AC/DC. Johnson added, “I said, ‘What are you doing that for?’ And you said, ‘Because I’m rich.’ You’re the only man in the world that can say that [without sounding arrogant]. That made me smile, and it was the first time I’d smiled in about a week. I just said, ain’t that fuckin’ lovely? When that happens, you just sort of sit in your nest and say, ‘That’s the end of that.’”

Brian Johnson was dismissed from AC/DC in spring 2016 after hearing issues forced him off the road, and Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose replaced him to complete the tour. Brian Johnson recently took a shot at the last AC/DC shows.
