Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea admitted to ‘collapsing’ at the conclusion of concerts due to exhaustion in a new Clash Music interview. A Red Hot Chili Peppers icon just confirmed that John Frusciante ‘quit’ playing guitar.

“One of the things that was a theme for me in my book, and in wanting to understand myself,” he says, “was like, ‘What is it that’s driven me? What drives me? Why have I always done what I’ve done?’ Like, say with the Chili Peppers: every time I step on stage with the Chili Peppers I give every fucking thing I’ve got, like to the point where I collapse in exhaustion after the show, and I push myself to the point where it hurts me.

But I do it because I feel like I have to. When I go on a stage, I have to give everything I’ve got. And I think in a way there is a reason for that – and it might not be the healthiest reason. Like, why am I driven? Is it because I want to prove to everybody, like, ‘Please love me! Look at me, I’m doing this!’ Or is it because I really yearn to connect so much?

Like, there’s something inside of me that wants so love so bad that I feel like I have to make this hard connection for the audience? Or is it because I just admire a beautiful piece of art and I know that it’s my job to do everything I can to create it? Trying to understand that about myself is the big theme of my book.”

A Red Hot Chili Peppers member recently revealed if Josh Klinghoffer was ‘worthless’ in the band. JimmyDeanBacon recently posted on Reddit about John Frusciante’s first RHCP comeback show, “John has had several bangers while being a part of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and now with his return and first show coming very soon, what songs would you like to see him play. Personally I want to see him do Charlie and Quixoticelixr (I know it didn’t get a proper album release as it was cut back in ‘99, but they’ve never played it live and if you listen to an interview with him and Anthony, you can tell the song meant a lot to Anthony, as he’d been writing it since the BSSM sessions).”

Chbmckeown commented, “Kicking off with Can’t Stop would be such an awesome opener. I reckon they’ll come in as a jam as is standard but Can’t Stop a la Slane where it builds would be EPIC.”

AndrewF29 said, “Honestly if they don’t kick off the new era of RHCP with Give It Away or Can’t Stop I will be pissed.”
