Former AC/DC singer Dave Evans has called out Angus Young and his former bandmates his terrible paychecks while in the band. Angus Young allegedly physically attacking an AC/DC bandmate was revealed yesterday.
Evans told The Metal Voice, “The reason why I left the band was because we had a hit record and we were doing so many shows, sometimes we were doing three shows a day and I was not getting paid. We were on TV on radio but we were not getting any money. Plus were pretty unhappy with our third manager.
I had to pay rent back at my apartment in Sidney, I was paying off a car, working my ass off and not getting any money. We had a meeting one night with the manager and he smart mouthed me, so I punched him. I had enough so I was going to leave the band after the tour unless I got a certain amount of money, which I didn’t, so I left. Strictly economics.”
Evans was also asked if he would ever write a book about his time in AC/DC, “Well if the right publisher approached me, with an advance I would write the story, the fans would love the story, it’s a story that has never been told.”
Bon Scott and Brian Johnson would go on to sing for AC/DC, singing on the band’s most iconic hits. Johnson, Phil Rudd, and Cliff Williams are rumored to rejoin for a new AC/DC tour and album in 2020. A photo recently surfaced seeming to confirm one member is back in AC/DC.
Brian Johnson has a famous friend who recently shared all of the details behind his 2016 AC/DC firing, including the stunning remark Johnson made to the friend when he believed he had ruined his chance to return to the band.
