Taylor Hawkins was a talented man who could do many things. He was a rockstar, singer, drummer, and someone who was great at telling stories. His death leaves a massive hole in the rock and roll industry and only time will tell how Foo Fighters would continue without him.
Hawkins has always talked about how he would be delivering pizzas if it wasn’t for the big break that Alanis Morrissette got him. Morrisette helped Hawkins step his foot in the door of rock and roll.
“I was lucky enough to get the job working with Alanis when I was 23,” Hawkins once said in an interview. Hawkins learned the ins and outs of the industry working with her. He also admired the fact that Morrissette gave her bandmates space when they would record.
“It was so much fun. I joined Alanis’ band and the single (‘You Oughta Know’) came out and it just went f*cking nuclear. Next thing you know, I’m in a video that’s on MTV every hour. That tour was very special, and I owe her a lot of gratitude,” the drummer told on Alice Cooper’s radio show Nights with Alice Cooper.
“She gave me a lot of space to do what I wanted. It was probably the biggest album of the year, and there was a lot of pressure on her,” Hawkins said. “She was having to learn to be this leader on the job, which isn’t easy. But it was really one of the most fun times of my life.”
An image is making the rounds on social media which is from an Alanis Morissette concert, in Europe. It shows Morissette paying tributeto Taylor Hawkins. The photo of the tribute touched fans’ hearts as they shared it online.
