It was reported yesterday that Woodstock 50 organizers were aiming at moving the festival to the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland on August 16 – 18, which would throw a wrench in Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins’ summer plans. Billy Corgan called out a Dave Navarro screwup in a recent video.

“When we heard that there was an opportunity to save this festival and bring a piece of American history to our community this summer, we jumped at the chance,” wrote Calvin Ball, an executive with Howard County, to Woodstock 50 co-organizer Greg Peck in a note Bloomberg obtained. “Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia is a jewel of Howard County and one of the top music venues in the nation. It felt like such a natural fit to host a historic festival on our storied stage.”

The Smashing Pumpkins and Noel Gallagher have a show scheduled on August 17th, leading to many wondering if the show would be canceled. Corgan recently revealed a dark Jimmy Page secret.

Billy Corgan has hit back, “To those asking about the Woodstock announcement conflicting with our date in August, I have no notice that anything has changed. That said, I will check with our management and agent today to confirm there is no conflict and that our gig with Noel and AFI will go on as advertised.”

He later said, “Gig update: Spoke to agent, said no conflict or issue with our date and Woodstock venue change. Nothing proposed or suggested in terms of a change for SP, and we’d be first to know. #FakeNews.”
