The Freddie Mercury and Queen Instagram fan club account – FreddieMercuryClub took to social media to ring in the new year by posting this rousing, retro video of the group performing “Sheer Heart Attack” live, one of Queen’s most classic hits. Freddie Mercury ‘hides’ AIDS in awful video.

The account then wrote how this particular song drew inspiration by a classic track by the Beatles. The account wrote: “Starting the new year like this. Written by Roger Taylor,”Sheer Heart Attack” was originally composed for the album of the same name in 1974 but was not included on the album for several reasons. The song was finished for News of the World in 1977. Roger Taylor plays almost every instrument on the finished track, with some help from Brian May on guitar. This is one of the few original Queen recordings that does not feature bass guitarist John Deacon. The opening lyrics make reference to “I Saw Her Standing There” by The Beatles, which start with “Well, she was just seventeen/You know what I mean”, compared to the track’s “Well you’re just 17 and all you want to do is disappear/You know what I mean there’s a lot of space between your ears”. Gene Simmons revealed a painful Freddie Mercury photo the other week.

The account continued: “With a snarling vocal and frantic tempo, this song is a tribute of sorts to punk rock, which was having its day in 1977. The Sex Pistols were recording their first album next door to Queen when they recorded this song. P.S. This is one of those songs that I only enjoy live performed by Freddie. I mean who else could make those lyrics and that fast tempo come alive like that? Pure energy and sex appeal…it’s not just the outfit but the delivery is just [fire emoji]. I don’t know about you but Sheer Heart Attack is what I feel every time I see Freddie doing anything. If you think I’m done with this performance in any way you’re dead wrong. Commentaries to be posted are required”

Freddie Mercury’s bandmate recently made a sad AIDS drug claim. In other news regarding Freddie Mercury and Queen, fans recently took to social media to discuss the aforementioned album ‘Sheer Heart Attack’. One fan wrote: ” A superb album from my youth. I received a record player for Christmas, and so I’ve been working on getting some of the albums I used to listen to when I was younger. This was one of the first albums I ever had, so naturally, I had to get this one. This is a much thicker album (180 grams, I believe) so obviously it’s much heavier. The album arrived well packed and I have not noticed any problems such as warps or scratches. It sounds fantastic on the record player, so I’m very happy with this purchase.”
