Jason Bonham, the drummer son of the late Led Zeppelin icon John Bonham recently made an appearance on The Eddie Trunk Podcast, where he recalled receiving a legal request to change the name of his Led Zep tribute act. The tribute band was founded in 2009 under the name of Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience. It is to be also noted that Serj Tankian dropped a bombshell about a Led Zeppelin reunion.

The name was changed to Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening

Since the request was made, Jason changed the name to Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening. The interviewer asked if it was done at the request of the Zeppelin guys themselves when Bonham replied that he was a little confused about the fact and questioned himself if they were not happy with the tribute.

It was changed because it sounded similar to Pink Floyd’s ‘Pink Floyd Experience.

Here is what he said:

“Yes, it was, and at the time, yeah, I was a little confused. ‘Why…?’ I thought, ‘Were they not happy with me doing it?’ But no, there was something they were working on, which from the looks of what the news – just saw in the news the other day, it was possibly something similar to what Pink Floyd had done with the Pink Floyd Experience.”

“I think they wanted the terminology, ‘Experience,’ to be able to do something like that, I guess. That’s my take on it because they said, ‘We’re still allowing you to use the name ‘Led Zeppelin.”

He recalled adding another ‘E”  and tried ‘Extravaganza’ which didn’t sound right, so it became Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.
