Ljcole90 recently posted on the Radiohead Reddit, “I met Colin Greenwood… In a store in central London last week. Thought I’d share the experience for anyone interested.

I had gone into the department store and made my way downstairs to the menswear section and suddenly realised that Colin Greenwood was at the bottom of the stairs holding the door open for me. I double-taked and gave him what was probably an incredibly strange smile.

I spent the next few minutes dodging in between rows of clothes agonising over whether to say hello or not. Eventually I summoned up the courage and walked over to introduce myself, knowing I would regret it if I didn’t.

I asked if he was Colin, and he said yes, obviously. I’m glad I didn’t ask ‘are you Colin from Radiohead’. I wanted to convey my level of fandom off the bat. I apologised straight away for interrupting his day. It was early in the morning and he’d clearly thought that shopping at this time carried with it minimal risk of being noticed. I had obviously foiled his plan. He was incredibly friendly and said not to worry. We talked for a couple of minutes. I asked him what it had been like recording on Ed’s solo album and what he was up to at the moment. He said he wouldn’t be playing live with Ed, he’d been playing on another new project – the name of which escapes me.

He then asked me if I was a musician myself, and I cringingly said yes and gave him my artist name. He said he’d check it out. I’m sure he won’t but the gesture was cool. Tbh I’d be mortified if he did. I then asked him when Radiohead would be reconvening and he said they were all doing different things at the moment this year but that they were talking and things would happen eventually. We then said goodbye and I think I lingered a moment too long and came across like a freak but it was worth it.

It was a surreal moment, meeting out in the wilderness someone whose face I’ve seen so many times across pictures and videos. He was very down to earth and almost exactly how I imagined – however these music celebs are always smaller than you think. I do regret not asking him such key questions as ‘why was Cut A Hole not on the last album’ and ‘what are you including on the Kid A 10th Anniversary Edition’ but there we go. These things escape you in the moment.

Anyway, hardly world changing as a story but it was a great moment for me on an otherwise totally unmemorable weekday morning.” Tool singer Maynard James Keenan recently revealed if he hates Radiohead.
