Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer revealed his offer to be John Frusciante’s drummer in a new AMA.
One fan asked, “Hey Josh! Greetings from Montana! Something I’ve been curious about: when your go on tour, are you gonna have a band or is it going to be just you?
Excited to see you play live. You’re the reason I started playing guitar, and I’m a huge fan of your work. I’ve never heard anything like it 💛
P.S. If you ever need a touring drummer… I’m your guy. 🤣”
Klinghoffer responded, “‘If you ever need a touring drummer… I’m your guy.’ I said the same thing to John the first time I met him. Well, omit the word ‘touring’.
It depends on the situation. I should be prepared for both! Where in Montana are you!? I have a friend who’s sister is running for a judicial position there! Do me a favour, spread the word!!! https://www.robinhammond4judge.com/meet-robin.”
Josh Klinghoffer trashed a big Red Hot Chili Peppers name a couple days ago. Another fan asked, “Hey J! I hope you are doing okay! First of all I wanted to say thank you for your music. It helps and inspires me a lot as an musician and as a person. And congratulations for the new album, it’s amazing, I loved it! You’re an amazing artist and a huge inspiration for me ♡
Okay, now my questions are:
– Since you’ve shown support to the anti-facism and anti-authoritarianism causes, what other current causes do you support and consider relevant?
– I adore your cover of the song ‘Menina Mulher da Pele Preta’ and I wanted to know if there’s another Brazilian artists you like
– And last but not least: how are you going through this complicated phase that hit the whole world? do you have any tips to help me keep my sanity (haha)?
I love you, J xo ~ arthie.”
Klinghoffer responded, “I’m on the side of good, decent and sensible. It seems like the world has gone so wilding and embarrassingly off the rails. I’m on the side of good and decent.
I like many Brazilian artists. Tom Ze, Tim Maia, Milton Nascimento. I said earlier I’m obsessed with Wandeléa’s single Mané João. Baden Powell. One of my favourite groups is Comadre Fulozinha! Mauro turned me on to them!
Stop thinking it’s so bad. Look at this time as a unique experience that you’ll never have again and try to do things durning this period you’ll never again be able to commit to doing. If this time has made it hard to live, then I suppose devoting yourself to a project, whatever that may be, might be the only way to right this out. I hope you’re okay.”
