Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has confirmed that he smoked PCP as a teenager, he said it in a piece promoting his new book Acid for the Children. A Red Hot Chili Peppers member kissed a famous man in a photo yesterday.
Flea said about a bully who turned him onto PCP-laced bong hits. “The kid showed no pretty colors.” He added in the next sentence, “Angel dust is like smoking death.”
He said he started using drugs when he was only 12 years old, and he’d stay up until 4AM getting high.
“I got up to whatever I wanted all night long,” Flea said. “Started getting high at 12. It was the ’70s, and let me tell you, the ’70s in Hollywood were wild.” He described nights out until 4 in the morning, running into “every flavor of person, people in all kinds of inebriated states. Scary states. People in predatory states.”
A Red Hot Chili Peppers member’s massive reunion offer leaked last week. Flea also recently wrote on social media about the Los Angeles Lakers, “Oh yeah. It’s @lakers day. The beginning of each season finds me tingling with anticipation, to watch the poetry in all its telepathic artistry unfold on the hardwood; what players are going to surprise me with unexpected brilliance, what teams are gonna freak me out with their weird eccentric intensity. But mostly I just think about the Lakers. Since I moved to LA in 1972 I love em so damn much.”
I have admired Lebron James throughout the dynamic course of his basketball career, the skill, the power, the soul, the intellect. My heart was touched when he opened his IPromise school in Ohio, (having started a non profit school myself here in LA I felt a kinship) and his ability to lift up the players around him inspires me in the way that @magicjohnson did during his playing days. The guy is a basketball god.”
Red Hot Chili Peppers recently debuted a John Frusciante classic. Flea added, “To pair him with the transcendent Anthony Davis, a bold young man who at 26 is just coming into his prime??? AD can do it ALL its simply not simple and stunning. Whoooohahaha! All the heat that Jeannie Buss has taken this last couple of years, she has remained steady in her deep Laker love and done the right thing. She has facilitated putting together a championship quality team and I am thrilled and grateful. Our city will come together with a giant purple and gold heart, love will prevail. Go Lakers.”
The New York Times reported Flea’s quotes on his drug use.
