Red Hot Chili Peppers producer Rick Rubin appeared to hint at a role he is playing with the band’s reunion with John Frusciante and reported firing of Josh Klinghoffer, who has stated before that he felt he didn’t click well with how Rubin worked on 2011’s I’m With You. Rubin posted a quote on Instagram that says, “Always remain open to turns and surprises along the way. Welcome to the unexpected.” A Blink-182 member also reacted to John Frusciante replacing Josh Klinghoffer.

Eye0pener recently posted on Instagram about Klinghoffer, “We appreciate all the kind words you’ve posted and sent us privately in support of Josh. We see how much you love him, and how you’re hurting from the sudden recent news. Many of you have asked us to send Josh messages directly. While we cannot do that, we want to help with the healing process. We want YOU to tell Josh what you feel.

This Thursday, December 19, we will open up a special Instagram page where we will repost your thoughts and feelings about Josh’s time in the Chilis and your good wishes for his future projects. Make a video, write a heartfelt message, share a photo you took at a show, whatever you feel. Post it to YOUR Instagram account, tag @ToBeOneWithJK, and use the hashtag #GoodLuckJK. We will screen your submissions (so be kind and respectful), we will repost them to our page, and then we will share your submissions with Josh.

Quick turnaround on this…you may begin submitting this Thursday, December 19, at 8 a.m. EST. We will stop taking submissions this Friday, December 20, at 5 p.m. EST.

We know Josh will be okay. He has nothing but love for his Chili family. And you’ll be okay too. We will continue to follow and support Josh in ALL his future projects! ❤️ Much love to you all.” Flea broke his silence on why Josh Klinghoffer left Red Hot Chili Peppers a few days ago.
