Rush singer Geddy Lee recently discussed Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin ripoff on NPR’s World Cafe. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments. Robert Plant recently called out a Led Zeppelin fraud.

“Well, you can never sound like your heroes. You can try, but my theory is one creates one’s own sound by trying to emulate the artist that you love and are influenced by, but failing at that. So the combination of confidence in your own playing, and the failure to emulate your heroes, somehow out of that chemistry comes your own tone and personality.

I used to produce bands for a short period of time, and a musician would come into the room and say, ‘Okay, here is a track from Jimmy Page, I want to sound just like Jimmy Page.’ So you go, ‘Well, you can’t sound like Jimmy Page because he sounds like that because of the way he plays, that’s Jimmy.’ That’s why it’s great to try to emulate these guys, but on that journey you find out who you are.”

Rush’s singer revealed what he really thinks about U2 yesterday. Jimmy Page wrote on social media recently, “This was eventually recorded at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, unfortunately, a re-recording clause kept us from including the Black Crowes material on the CD album. This was a shame as it had come out really well.

The tour itinerary also shows the NetAid concert: a pioneering, innovative charity concert to be available on the internet.” Jimmy Page revealed a sad Led Zeppelin accident yesterday.
