Greta Van Fleet‘s Josh, Jake, and Sam Kiszka make up the core of the band, and their mother Karen recently revealed the advice that they got from Dave Grohl and his mother on a tour bus, as he broke his silence and spoke to the band for the first time. Dave Grohl also reacted to a stunning Madonna payday in a newly surfaced video. Karen made the remark on the First Ladies of Comedy podcast, and Alternative Nation transcribed her remarks.

Co-Host: We saw on TV, the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer shake their hands and patted them and it’s just wild, it’s gotta feel good. Inside your own mind, no matter how many people are in front of you you still think: “I’m just me, I’m just me, I’m just me”.

Karen Kiszka: When they opened for the Foo Fighters and [Dave] Grohl came onto the bus, and he came from the same thing, he was nothing fitting into the school thing. Grohl’s mother was a teacher and I read her book actually – “From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars” but Dave Grohl’s mom but it was the same sort of thing. She was an educator, you expect your kids to get As and everything wonderful and then they do and you go:

“Oh no, what do I do!?”

Kiszka: She had the same thing and she saw this gift and realized he wasn’t fitting in this world that we are trying to fit him into. So, I think he understood. So, he got on that bus and gave them words of wisdom and they will never forget that.

Greta Van Fleet were accused of ‘fake’ vocals by a rock icon last week. Greta Van Fleet played at Dave Grohl’s Cal Jam festival last year in California, which featured Foo Fighters and the reunited Nirvana as headliners.
