Late Queen icon, Freddie Mercury was the subject of discussion during a recent one-off, Q&A event for Elton John promoting his new memoir. Here, John discusses how a gift addressing Elton by his drag queen name by Freddie, who did the same thing drove Elton to tears after stating that he ‘loved him’. As Sir Elton began to shed a tear while reciting his emotional memory, he said: “You can imagine how much I cried. It was really moving. He was dying and he still thought of his friends and he bought me this. I still have it on its easel and I still have the pillowcase next to my bed. That is the kind of person he was.
