AC/DC drummer Chris Slade has announced that a major performance with his band has been canceled. He wrote on Facebook, “Another sad closure and obviously it means that our show on 2ND NOVEMBER will now not happen. We have lots of other dates in the North of the UK to attend but please buy your tickets early ⚡” An AC/DC icon revealed if Angus Young is a control freak yesterday.
Whittles Oldham had written, “SAD ANNOUNCEMENT. Following a meeting with the landlords last week we have been informed that the building has been sold with a view to being developed into apartments.
We have been given four weeks notice and our last trading day will be Sunday 22nd September. We are obviously all upset more so because it’s the end of an era for this iconic live music venue.
We have bookings beyond the end of September and numerous people to contact personally over the next few days. (Please bear with us and we will be in touch) We would like all our customers old and new to join us over the next few weeks to help us go out with a bang!
Just while we get things sorted the pub will be closed this week and then business as usual from Friday lunch time. Neil, Heather, John, Wendie & Jean.”
Brian Johnson recently made a brutal AC/DC stadium tour claim. Johnson is rumored to rejoin AC/DC and reunite with Angus Young, Phil Rudd, and Cliff Williams for a tour and new album next year. Johnson’s new interview with Dan Rather will air on AXS TV on October 1st, and in the television special he discusses having writer’s block while working on Back In Black. Johnson had breakfast with producer Mutt Lange, with a tropical storm coming in, inspiring the classic “Hells Bells.”
“Mutt went, ‘Oh, it’s rolling thunder!’ And I went, ‘Rolling thunder, pouring rain, coming on like a hurricane. There’s white lightning flashing,’” Johnson said. “I mean I literally was giving a weather report.” He continues, “When great things are happening so quickly, you never realize, do you? It’s so fabulous. It just looks so easy. When you try to do it again, it never works!” An AC/DC icon revealed earlier this week why Angus Young is a ‘recluse.’
