Paul McCartney revealed in a new BBC radio interview that when his two youngest grandchildren were going to bed one time, he played them The Beatles classic “Blackbird” as they went to sleep, but they didn’t care. McCartney was recently photographed driving a stunningly expensive car.

“They were like, ‘That’s nice’. It’s not like some famous guy doing Blackbird. It’s just Grandad.”

He said his grandkids became aware of his legendary status when seeing fans who wanted photos and autographs when out in public. McCartney just released his ‘Hey Grandude!’ children’s book, and he’s also narrated an audio version of the book along with a soundtrack.

From an early age, the grandchildren were aware of McCartney’s celebrity and used to seeing fans asking for autographs and selfies. Ringo Starr recently called out a member of The Eagles for costing him $4,000 for a surprising reason.

McCartney said, “I sometimes will say to the audience, ‘My grandkids are here’. It’s crazy for them. They’ve got this grandad up on stage rocking out.”

As the interview ends, he picks up a harmonica and starts playing, and explained why he loves the little things in life.

He said, “To me, I look at trees and I’m going, ‘Do you realise they’re pumping water at a phenomenal rate? And they’re putting out oxygen!’

“Anyone else would go, ‘Yeah okay, it’s a tree Paul – get over it!’ But I love the idea of seeing the wonder in the world because it is magical. And I think if you can see it then you have a better life.” Paul McCartney freaked out a lovely fan at a restaurant last week.
