Paul McCartney’s daughter, the stylish and fashionable Stella McCartney recently made an appearance on NBC’s hit morning show Today to discuss her charity, the Stella McCartney Cares Foundation and her new line of compression bras driven to women who have just had mastectomies and who have breast cancer. Interviewer: You’re doing another thing that I think is really cool. You’re just announcing a compression bra for women who have had a mastectomy. It’s personal to you, you’ve lost your mother to breast cancer. Why was this important to you?
Stella McCartney: Exactly for that reason. I was with a friend of mine a few years ago and she just had a double mastectomy. It just took me back to what my mother went through and the double mastectomy is so demoralizing and unfeminine. So I thought that you are going through all of that and can’t feel feminine or sexy and celebrate your body still. So I designed a double mastectomy bra with organic cotton and my aim really with the Stella McCartney Cares Foundations is to give everyone who has had a double mastectomy one for free. Interviewer: You lost your mom too young. Did you ever let yourself think about what she would think if she saw all that you have done and accomplished?
