Pink Floyd‘s drummer Nick Mason, as well as engineer John Leckie, revealed how Pink Floyd had just signed a new contract that gave the band a reduced royalty in return for unlimited studio time, and how Paul McCartney and The Beatles also had to give away money to their label for similar freedom. A significant amount of Meddle was recorded around London at this time, including the famed Abbey Road Studios. Pink Floyd made this disturbing Jimi Hendrix revelation recently.

Mason told Classic Rock Magazine the following:

“Much of Meddle’s success is down to the fact that their label, EMI, not really having much of a clue about Pink Floyd other than that they sold lots of records, pretty much left them to their own devices. We had just signed a new contract that gave us a slightly reduced royalty in return for unlimited studio time. I think only The Beatles had a similar deal at the time.”

John Leckie, who engineered most of the recording work over at Abbey Road had this to say:

“They were left alone. Colin Miles, who was the only person at EMI who could ’relate to Pink Floyd’, used to turn up occasionally with a couple of bottles of wine. Maybe some spliff. They worked hard, though, it wasn’t a party.”

Rush singer Geddy Lee revealed this shocking Neil Peart coke photo. In other news regarding Pink Floyd, Redditor Millwalkey88 posed the question If you could erase your memory of any Pink Floyd album and listen to it with “virgin ears”, which album would it be?” on the Pink Floyd subreddit and the responses have been interesting, to say the least.

Outerbankstypebeat said: “Honestly, considering how much I enjoy film and cinematography I would have to go with The Wall. Its already my favorite but I just feel like if I were to put myself in that situation I’d want it to be The Wall. And with that rewatch the movie. It’s a beautiful movie and I would love to experience it all over again. I haven’t seen it in years but I remember it so vividly somehow. But yeah that’s just me.”

Bavamango mentioned: “Dark Side Of The Moon, I’ve just listened to it in and out so many times that it doesn’t have that same feel anymore(it’s still fucking great don’t get me wrong), the wall I only reserve for long car trips, and “Wish You Were Here” and Animals I only listen to on occasion, so there’s no need.” This Pink Floyd member dropped a 2020 reunion bombshell.
