Billy Corgan has announced that former Smashing Pumpkins touring keyboardist Lisa Harriton was involved in a horrific car accident. A Smashing Pumpkins member made a quitting announcement last week. Harriton played with The Smashing Pumpkins from 2007 to 2008 on their Zeitgeist and 20th anniversary tours, alongside Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, Jeff Schroeder, and Ginger Pooley. She also played on the song “Everything is Awesome” with Tegan and Sara, and was later the keyboard player for Lady Gaga

Corgan wrote, “Please send your love and prayers to Lisa Harriton.” Harriton said, “Two cars were parked in the fast lane on the freeway. There were no lights on, no hazards. It was very hard to spot them. We swerved onto the shoulder and avoided them.

The car behind us didn’t and slammed into us and pushed us into the cement barricade. My head slammed into the side window and I am in so much pain. If I am slow to respond to emails or texts, be patient as I am trying to recover. So very grateful to be alive.”

She later posted a photo and said, “We were involved in a 6 car accident on the 101 freeway. Our car is totaled. Luckily no broken bones. Severe whiplash and head injury but, it could have been so much worse.”

Harriton was not involved in any Smashing Pumpkins studio albums, but she did play on the live recordings on the concert film ‘If All Goes Wrong’ which featured new original material. A Smashing Pumpkins icon disrespecting Maynard James Keenan was revealed last week.
