Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler‘s daughter, Mia Tyler took to social media via Instagram to discuss the struggles of mental health and why self-help and finding happiness within yourself is so important in a new post documenting her struggles with depression. Steven Tyler just confirmed this new Aerosmith drummer.
[I’ve] felt like pure dog shit the last couple of months. Mentally I went through the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through. I was in a deeeeeeep depression. A kind of depression I haven’t felt since high school. Mental health is no joke. On the surface, I had to maintain and look “normal” for my Son, cuz I NEVER want to imprint my bullshit on him. But inside I was dying. Then, like the million other times throughout my life, I decided enough was enough. Maybe it’s cuz I won my battle I was fighting. But I just don’t ever want to be a victim to my past.
The Aerosmith daughter finished off by saying:
So I started to rebuild one step at a time. Got me a beautiful new pup, did my nails and today managed to put eyeliner on. It might not sound like important stuff to you, but it’s huge in my world. I’m just starting to feel good again. I’m still on the first step of regaining my mental and finding happiness inside myself. I guess I’m “dear diary-ing” to y’all just in case anyone else is where I’m at or lower and needs a push or to feel not so alone and human.
Fans of Mia Tyler flocked in support offering these encouraging words in response to the Instagram post. Lorraine.brooks.779 said: “I understand you completely. Been there, done that, many times. Still fighting! My kids never knew. Now my grandkids shine a light on me. Good for you for getting out today, getting a pup and doing your nails! And eyeliner as well.
