The new Tool album name was finally revealed on Monday, with Fear Inoculum set for release on August 30th. Maynard James Keenan was interviewed on the Joe Rogan Experience, and he gave more details on the long wait for the album and the band finally coming to streaming services. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments. Tool guitarist Adam Jones looked miserable in a new announcement photo.
Maynard said, “Yeah, so I figured I know there are probably some Tool fans that will tune in specifically to hear some news. So rather than being a dick and waiting until the end to tell them, we should probably tell them upfront.”
Rogan asked, “Are you softening in your age?”
Maynard responded, “No, not at all. I just care, I care about [the fans]. As long as things have taken for us, because we’re a very difficult band, we’re stubborn, and we’re kind of ignorant to what goes on in the rest of the world. So people are like, ‘Come on, guys.’ And you know, to their credit, the whole beta max thing didn’t work for us, and neither did the laser disc, so we have this new thing called digital media and streaming, we’re going to try it out.
Keenan then announced that Tool will be on streaming platforms on August 2nd. An awful Tool and Zack de la Rocha lie was revealed this past week.
He later said, “People will now have read those things I put up about the new album, so I’m going to request, I’m going to beg people who have seen it now. I don’t know when this is going live, I’m going to beg as a favor to you and to me, for people who read that news and are excited about that news, to do us all a favor and turn your f**king phone off, turn your computer off, turn your TV walk, go for a long walk.
Just go for a long walk somewhere, even if it’s in the mall, just go somewhere else. Go out, go talk to a stranger, and just find out something about them. Doesn’t matter what it is, just talk to somebody. Just go out of your house and have a conversation with somebody.”
